Kites - The Movie Review

Over! That is just the word for this movie. Over- hyped, over-exaggerated, over-romantic, over-dramatic and the audience was waiting for this movie to get over since like forever!
The movie is nothing compared to those attractive trailers we've been seeing since the last three months. In fact, the one who made those trailers did a very good job, he showed Anurag Basu how he could have finished that 2.5 hour long torture in 2.5 minutes.
Kites hardly seemed to be a Hindi Bollywood flick with 70% of the movie being in Spanish (after the 2nd hour, Spanish without English subs, the movie should be thanked for the excellent Spanish tuition) and 20% English.
The car chase scenes were the only likable part of the movie, rest of it was really predictable. The Hrithik-Barbara love story was too heavenly to be digested.
There's nothing else in the movie which is worth mentioning except for the fact that Hrithik seems to have a huge misconception that it was the sad end of the movie which people didn't like. :P
Please don't go and waste your precious time and money on this movie, even if you have nothing to do.
Happy Holidays... :)

Google Book Downloader

Living in a college hostel for two years definitely taught one really important thing - Saving... :D
Yeah, really! This sem I saved quite a lot by cutting out all my unnecessary expenses a big amount of which was the books... ;)
I figured out that there are a lot of ways to pass my exams other than spending countless bucks on books whose sole fate is lying dust covered in some corner of my room throughout the sem; one of such ways was - Google Books... They were a saviour! Google had every bloody book I could have thought of...
During the minors I found them pretty convenient, had to scroll through a couple of chapters per day and done; but I came face to face with all its major drawbacks during the end sems... Frequent power cuts, irregular and slow connection and Google blocking the college proxy off and on was really irritating and had only one solution - downloading the book...
I was given a lot of suggestions for this - but none seemed to work for me except saving the book pages one by one... You can definitely give rest of them a try -
  • Using the Greasemonkey add-on (firefox)
  • Using the Flashgot add-on (firefox)
  • Using the Google Book Downloader
  • Saving the pages one by one (firefox) - I'm sure you won't ever find the whole textbook important and worth reading... All you might need is a few pages, and for that just scroll to the desired page, open the Tools Menu and select Page Info. In the Media tab of Page Info. you'll find a list of the images etc used in the page, just check out which of these images is the page from the book and save it... Done! :)
If in case you're having proxy related trouble, then you can try hiding your proxy using site like hidemyass.com and anonymouse.org; and try reading the book with Javascript disabled in your browser...
Happy Saving!
Ciao

Colors Of The Season!

The two must-haves for this season are definitely - Purple and Yellow! Violet, Lilac, Lavender, Mauve; Gold, Amber, Lemons and Limes; anything remotely associated with Purple or Yellow should be welcomed to your cupboard.. :)
And talking of the combinations, these two look great together!
Purple has undoubtedly been the ruling color since almost an year now. It is the new pink for the girls and the new blue for boys. For all those baby girls in love with pink - Hannah Montana loves Purple ;). There definitely exists at least one shade of purple, meant to suit YOU. No wonder everyone has been falling in love with this color lately.
Yellow making it to the top must have been a surprise for you. I don't realise why people hesitate in making it a part of their wardrobe even though it suits them (PS - I'm one of them. :| ) . Yellow looks great on the Indian skin, makes us look fresh. A flashy, catchy yellow or even a subtle one, should be tried, depending on your style. Just one caution - Don't ever team up yellow with black, if you don't want to look like a taxi.
Remix is the mantra of the season, just keep trying anything with anything, you'll surely get a lot of fresh, interesting and different combos. Greens and Blues are really soothing, White, Creme, Beige, Chocolate, Ink Black, Ruby Red, Hot Pink (PS - I personally hate the last two colors), dull or flashy, wear anything that'll help you stand out.
Happy Remixing... :)
