Review : Gossip Girl
Genre : Drama, Romance
Created by : Josh Scwartz; Stephanie Savage
First Episode Aired: September 19, 2007
IMDb User Rating : 7.8/10
Based on a book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegsar, this TV series is narrated by an unseen blogger "Gossip Girl" (voice: Kristen Bell) who has special interest in the lives of Manhattan's elite teenagers attending expensive private schools. Lies, sex, scandals, gossips; with the omniscient Gossip Girl around, a secret can never remain one.
The series starts with Gossip Girl buzzing about the return of the "It Girl" Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) after a mysterious disappearance from the Upper East Side. Serena's best friend and the "Queen Bee" Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) is not so happy knowing her bff's back. The story also follows Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Blair's boyfriend since kindergarten, maybe, The Golden Boy; Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), the anithero, the womanizer; and basically everything What A Girl "would not" Want; the social invisibles - Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), from Brooklyn, the Lonely Boy, who has a crush on Serena; and Dan's sister Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen), ambitious, icl a wannabe, a mini-Blairette.
Mingling at benefits, socialising, partying, picking colleges, was all Blair was concerned about, until Serena returned, and made her realise that her "Perfect" life was not so perfect. Lies and betrayal by the bestfriend and the boyfriend, pretty cliched! Do watch the series for a 40 minute dose of drama.
