Yeah, really! This sem I saved quite a lot by cutting out all my unnecessary expenses a big amount of which was the books... ;)
I figured out that there are a lot of ways to pass my exams other than spending countless bucks on books whose sole fate is lying dust covered in some corner of my room throughout the sem; one of such ways was - Google Books... They were a saviour! Google had every bloody book I could have thought of...
During the minors I found them pretty convenient, had to scroll through a couple of chapters per day and done; but I came face to face with all its major drawbacks during the end sems... Frequent power cuts, irregular and slow connection and Google blocking the college proxy off and on was really irritating and had only one solution - downloading the book...
I was given a lot of suggestions for this - but none seemed to work for me except saving the book pages one by one... You can definitely give rest of them a try -
- Using the Greasemonkey add-on (firefox)
- Using the Flashgot add-on (firefox)
- Using the Google Book Downloader
- Saving the pages one by one (firefox) - I'm sure you won't ever find the whole textbook important and worth reading... All you might need is a few pages, and for that just scroll to the desired page, open the Tools Menu and select Page Info. In the Media tab of Page Info. you'll find a list of the images etc used in the page, just check out which of these images is the page from the book and save it... Done! :)
Happy Saving!
Ciao
